Packing and Travel Tips
What to pack
Bathroom: everything! Including towels and wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc., makeup, you will have to buy toilet paper when you arrive
On the plane: pillow, little blanket, compression socks, snacks
Clothes: dresses and skirts for rotation, shorts and T-shirt’s for every day wear (very hot here all year round)
Snacks: breakfast bars, any candy you cannot live without
Medications and shots: we got our Hepatitis A, typhoid and flu shots and brought malaria prophylaxis pills (you will start these two days before you leave, so plan accordingly to make a doctor appointment)
Travel
Our flight was out of ATL airport at 12:20am (late...we know!)
We travelled to Seoul, South Korea first and everyone on the plane was so nice. Three meals and a snack were provided, with a blanket, ear phones, and numerous new released movies, and games.
We landed in South Korea at 4:00am with a 5hr layover before heading to Bangkok
South Korea's airport is VERY accommodating...there is a traveler's lounge with showers, "nap time" areas, food, massages, a gym, and more! It made the layover go by very quickly
South Korea to Bangkok was about a 6hour flight and provided two meals and a snack with many movies to choose from as well
General Tips
Don’t need converter, plugs are the same in Thailand as US
Brings towels, wash cloths, soap, everything for bathroom
If you stay at SJ Residence, it is an apartment, so electricity and water are not included and you will get a bill at the end of the month
Drink bottled water only! A thai student/resident will take you to the grocery store when you arrive and you can buy toilet paper, bottled water, breakfast bars, etc. then! Our resident's name was Bew and she was so nice! She took us to our first coffee/tea shop in Thailand and helped us get our SIM cards for the month as well.
